This Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences at Fourah Bay College is the faculty that trains students in the core sciences. The Faculty currently has seven departments, namely: the Department of Marine Biology and Oceanography; the Department of Biological Sciences, the Department of Chemistry; the Department of Geography; the Department of Geology; the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, and the Department of Physics, all of which train students in their various specialties. In addition, there are Bachelor of Science in Biology with Education, Bachelor of Science with Engineering Option, Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Ecology and Environmental Biology, and Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences.
The Faculty offers programs designed to provide students with strong foundations in various scientific fields. The faculty emphasizes theoretical knowledge and practical skills, preparing graduates for careers in science, technology, research and industry.
Minimum requirement: 5 credits in GCE ‘O’ Level/WASSCE, including C6 or better in English, Mathematics/Further Mathematics, and any three science subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc.).

Diploma in Mathematics and Statistics
Entry: 4 GCE ‘O’ Level/WASSCE credits, including English and Mathematics.
Experience in statistics and data may be advantageous.

Entry: Completion of Certificate in Statistics program.
The faculty offers certificates in various specialized areas, including:
3 GCE ‘O’ Level/WASSCE credits with C6 or better, including English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
Candidates with 5+ years of practical experience in a related field may apply.
The OND programs offered in the faculty include:
4 GCE ‘O’ Level/WASSCE credits, including C6 or better in English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
Candidates without C6 in English at WASSCE must pass the University Matriculation English Language exam.
4 GCE ‘O’ Level/WASSCE credits, including C6 or better in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English Language.
Candidates without C6 in English at WASSCE will be required to pass the University Matriculation English Language exam.
