The Faculty of Economics and Development Studies (FEDS) is one of the new faculties carved out of the old Faculty of Social Sciences and Law. As the name implies, it carries the economics, accountancy, commerce and entrepreneurship, and development components of the old faculty. Currently, the Faculty has has three broad departments, namely: Departments of Economics and Commerce, Department of Accounting and Finance, and the Department of Population and Development Studies.
The Faculty is committed to producing graduates with a deep understanding of economic principles, financial systems, and population dynamics. The faculty equips students with analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills essential for careers in economics, finance, development planning, and policy-making.
With a strong emphasis on research and practical applications, students gain hands-on experience in economic analysis, financial management, and development studies, preparing them to contribute meaningfully to national and global economic growth.
The Faculty offers a well-rounded academic experience that integrates theory, research, and real-world economic challenges. Graduates are prepared to work in diverse sectors, including finance, policy-making, economic research, and development planning.
Bachelor of Social Science in Economics, Accounting, and Population Studies
Minimum Requirements:
Five credits at WASSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level, including C5 or better in English Language and Mathematics.
At least three social science subjects with a minimum of C5, such as Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Economics, and Commerce.
Bachelor of Social Science in Population & Development Studies
Same admission requirements as the Bachelor of Social Science in Economics.
Certificate in Population Analysis and Social Statistics
Entry Requirements:
Four (4) credits at WASSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level, including English, Mathematics, or Statistics.
Candidates with at least five years of experience in population-related work may also apply.
Certificate in Financial Analysis
Entry Requirements:
Three (3) credits at WASSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level, including English Language.
Certificate in Entrepreneurship
Entry Requirements:
Three (3) credits at WASSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level, including English Language.
